Het zijn zonder twijfel deze werken die hem zijn populariteit in brede kringen bezorgde. De diversiteit van zijn afgebeelde onder0werpen maakt dat men hem afwisselend catalogeert als academisch schilder, symbolist, (hyper)realist, ...
Hij beschrijft 185 tableaux in zijn memorandum. Van meer dan de helft is er een afbeelding.
